sugar fix

SUGAR FIX

Such a tragic day today.

I'm craving sugar like nothing on earth and a lengthy search of the cupboards, fridge and freezer proved completely pointless. Then, tucked away behind a can of chopped tomatoes appeared this.....

Nothing to get excited over, I assure you. I mean, it's rice pudding which is good. But it is low fat and low sugar rice pudding which is not good. But you know what they say, any port in a storm and all that. It was still in date - just - and I really can't identify a viable reason for it being in my cupboard in the first place. But not wanting to look a gift horse (more like gift donkey) in the mouth, I heat it in the microwave and add a dollop of jam to the top. It's apricot jam and the only reason I have that is that it was left over from the cakes I had to make before Christmas. Strictly speaking it should be strawberry jam for rice pudding. But if apricot is all I have then it will have to do.

I need to get out.

I need a trip to the newsagents for Cadburys Creme Eggs (yes I'm still on about them) and maybe a vanilla slice from the bakery.

Who switched on my sugar switch and will you turn it back off again please as this is most inconvenient!

pusher robot - Aw thanks! That was a sweet thing to say!

firetiger - Nice to meet you, hope you'll come by again soon

chelle - At least being a woman gives me a reasonable excuse for these cravings - there have to be some perks to it :)

tigerlily - I think it's the fact that we can only get them between Christmas and Easter that makes us want them more!

pandora - I limped to the newsagents - haven't walked that far for 7 weeks and I'm in agony now, but it was so totally worth it *licks chocolate from lips*

jonathon - So it was you was it? Naughty boy!

I used to love those eggs. I haven't had one for several yrs.
I do have a bag of
"mini-100,000 bars" & I love those.

I get sugar cravings too.

No thanks on the rice pudding though:)
LOL!

I'm a confirmed junk food addict so sugar is a staple of my diet. I need to quit or I'll be having coronary bypass surgery by the time I'm 34.

Hey this is probably a bit weird but I have discovered that a glass of milk takes the edge of sugar cravings.

I drink soy milk and it is a lot sweeter, so that may help...anyway...just a thought...lol (told you it's weird!)

Okay, babe, if the funk day the other day wasn't a big enough indicator that your hormones are on their wild rollercoaster ride, the intense sugar craving should tell you something.

Shouldn't it?

shelly - Sugar cravings make me mad - because I know it is my body that needs it but my mind is giving me a hard time over it.

bent - I'm a chocolate addict, but even there I can generally keep it under control. But this sugar thing is something else entirely!

MG - I didn't know that, but it's strange that you should mention milk - last night I poured myself a glass of milk for the first time in about 10 years!

~S~ - I know, my love - you know me better than I know myself xxx

rose - Now a caramel slice sounds good. but condensed milk and drinking chocolate? Never mind killing the sugar craving, I should think that will kill just about anything!

Oh I used to love Cadbury creme eggs when I was a teen/young adult. I had one again a few years ago, I almost gagged. Definitely something better left to memory for me. I hate when I get cravings like that, though. Mine are usually for salty foods.

daydreamer - Now caramel eggs are too sweet for me - figure that one out because I can't!

sassyfemme - Turkish Delight is best left to memories too, I think
